Having cross qualified from a barrister to solicitor and being placed in an employment and commercial team I have a unique insight to Employment Law and HR issues and can ensure a commercial and pragmatic approach is adopted and tailored to each client for their business needs.
I deal with all aspects of employment and HR issues, including:
- Reorganisations and redundancies; TUPE and contract transfer work
- Restrictive covenants
- Shareholders and senior executive disputes
- Employment Tribunal and Appeal Tribunal
- Settlement agreements
- Tribunal representative (advocacy)
- Recruitment, employment contracts, policies and procedures
- Discrimination (sex, race, sexual orientation and disability etc)
- Disciplinary, grievance and dismissals
I provide bespoke on-site training to HR professionals and business owners, as well as being a regular speaker at a variety of seminars workshops. I also appear on local radio as part of the ‘Brexit Bunch’ and for the BBC Radio Leeds Expert hour.
I work on a Pro Bono basis with MIND and Workplace Leeds assisting employees with mental health problems stay in work. In doing so I work with the employees, the case workers and the employers providing me with a unique and in depth perspective from every angle.
I also teach Employment Law at Leeds Beckett University to postgraduate students on a master and the LPC which keeps me on my toes and up to date in a complex and ever changing area of law.
